Why do it?
When you look at someone who is better off than you either in terms of position, power, social respect, status, costume, shoes or anything for that matter in this world, as a human being there is an inherent desire to be them or feel like them. When such feelings grip me, I am reminded of my mother’s words. “Son, look at those who don’t even have what you have, thank God for whatever you are blessed with and ensure to do something for those in need”.
Few years ago, I read the book “You can win” by Shiv Khera and the concept of helping someone who cannot return the favour in cash or kind appealed to me. I started realizing that there was some kind of internal happiness that is difficult to describe whenever I did it. That I understood is “Self Esteem” which is so vital for a great relationship at home and workplace. The more you do these, the more you feel good within and hence much better your overall performance.
What I narrate below has been my most humbling experiences that helped me build a positive self-esteem.
